As you may have seen on one of our previous posts, we are curating an exhibition to be displayed as part of the Architecture Fringe 2023 Open Programme on 16th-18th June, and we're so excited to be able to share it here now!
Unseen At Night will demonstrate the opportunities of queer, feminine and femme night spaces that encompass the principles upon which queer communities are centred, facilitating a collaboration of queer and femme designers to do so. The project initiates dialogue on what inclusive, safe and accessible queer, feminine and femme spaces can be through a collaboration with Femmergy, a queer femme club night in Edinburgh.
We have created a brief with Femmergy which is the basis for our Open Call, and anyone that identifies with queer, femme or feminine - or feels they have something to contribute to this dialogue - is welcome to send us an Expression of Interest.
Our Open Call can be downloaded below (live from now!), and Expressions of Interest should be emailed to us before the deadline on 24th April 2023. Ideally if applicants can send an initial sketch idea for the exhibition that would be helpful, but more general Expressions of Interest are also welcome. Each contributing artist will be paid for their time thanks to some gratefully received support from Creative Scotland.
The exhibition will be accompanied by some live DJing from the Femmergy resident DJs on Saturday and Sunday. See more on Femmergy here.
Want to come to our opening party? Our network will be invited with some support from Academy of Urbanism Young Urbanists for their members to attend as well so it will be a great night and we're really looking forward to it! Sign up to our website and we'll send more information out nearer the time via the email address you provide. Hope to see you there!
